Hiya Cramp can also occur if you've not had enough salt I believe (ie, if you haven't had enough Lucozade). I had the same problem in the last 2km of Berlin Marathon - not pleasant at all! Get used to the drinks and food that you'll have on race d…

Justin, it's a BRILLIANT race! The atmosphere around Reading is electric and you'll LOVE the finish (save some energy for a manic sprint coz the rush is immense!).... Fear not, you won't get lost - there'll be 15,999 other people (ish) going the sa…

Hi Justin Blimey - slightly ahead of the game there! If it was me, I'd just take it easy for a couple of months. Perhaps just do 2 runs a week + something in the gym with weights (if poss) to keep the core strong. You've clearly got the fitness le…

I also find the treadmill hard work... I think thought that a major part of it is the psychology behind it. If you go out for a 5 mile run, you'd usually do a loop and you just keep going til you get back home... On a treadmill, there's no reason to…

The hills on the course aren't too bad at all folks... Yep, you'll feel them, but at the bottom of the 2nd hill, the local pub gave out free mini cups of beer last year so if nothing else, you can stagger up! I chose to run past - not sure it'd have…

Tips? Hmmmm... Train for it would be the best start. On the day, arrive nice and early (parking in the area, getting to the area is a disaster), and you know what? Just get stuck in and really enjoy it. I've done about 20 events including 2 marathon…

Aaah, shame mate... I'm not sure yet.. Waiting for this mag to arrive! But they're emailing us all on Monday so might find out then!

Just got my accept/declined magazine in the post today. Unfortunately I didn't get a place in London next year. Haven't got an event lined up so I'm currently on the lookout. Did you get a place?

Good running events?

Hi everyone

Can anyone recommend any good events? Am looking at any distance from 10k - full marathon....

I've looked at Runners World, but wondered what you guys and girls would recommend?

To kick start it off, I would STRONGLY recommend Reading Half, and would suggest you give Paris Marathon a miss... Atmosphere was rubbish and after 5k I had to stop and wait for 100's of people to squeeze through a narrowing in the road! Only in France!

Thanks
Justin

There's an email that will be going out fairly soon about running motivation so watch out for that!

Hi Justin, I just saw that you are planning on doing the RHM and then the Paris Marathon a week later.

Just a word of caution about this mate, you will need to decide fairly soon which race is your main target. Racing at Reading will almost certainly impair your performance in Paris.

If Paris is you main goal then run Reading at or below your marathon pace to give your body as little trauma to recover from as possible in the 7 days between the events!

George
